Brooklyn loves song

This is the love journey of Brooklyn and Song. Brooklyn is the privileged border of the first African-American governor of the state of New York. Song is the son of a 1st generation South Korean. Brooklyn although privileged she grew up with all of the best that life has to offer she was a pretty down-to-earth young lady. She is a elementary school teacher. And song is your average run-of-the-mill New York City detective. These to meet and sparks fly immediately but as you would imagine both carry baggage very similar baggage they both know a bite and Hurtof a very close loved one dying before their time. They both recognize this pain and each other even before they discuss it. However things get very real when someone tries to hurt Brooklyn. Overall the story was a very good one although they were sometimes I wanted to shake Brooklyn. But overall it was a good story is especially towards the end. I recommend this book to you. The story is both interracial and an HEA.

The bacteria that caused these four major killers were identified by one man, Robert Koch, one of the most significant people in the history of medicine and one of the founders of bacteriology. Thomas Brock’s excellent biography of Koch shows us the development of not just Koch’s life but also the history of medicine in the late 19th century. The book has two real strengths.

First, it is clearly written, extremely well-organized, and easy to follow. Brock knows when to include information and when to leave out details extraneous to his main goal. His chapter organization with subtitles within the chapters makes following the book an easy task. The paragraphs are well-formed with excellent transitions and internal coherence. Given the amount of data to be covered, it is an excellent example of how to organize a biography of a complex and brilliant person.

Second, the book covers all aspects of Koch’s life, from his amazing skills at using the scientific method to isolate bacteria to his arrogance and sometimes dangerous claims later in his life. Koch’s early work is one of the clearest examples of science in action that a reader can find. His “postulates” for identifying disease organisms are now standard procedure in medicine and the clarity of his method is still astounding. He was among the first to use new techniques or materials available (e.g., agar and Petri dishes) and Brock does a terrific job of showing the reader how Koch’s method functioned. Brock is also careful to mention predecessors and people on whose work Koch depended. After Koch became world-renowned, he made the mistake, we might say today, of believing too much in his own image. Spurred in part by the fact that he worked for the German government and partly by his own arrogance, Koch made claims about tuberculin as a cure for tuberculosis that soon proved wrong and sometimes dangerous. While early in his life Koch learned from his mistakes and used them to improve his work, later in his life he found it almost impossible to accept criticism. Brock also covers Koch’s personal life well. After a failed marriage he married a woman thirty years younger and, when he was attacked after the tuberculin scandal, he and his wife began a long series of trips to equatorial countries to do work on tropical diseases. Brock implies that part of the reason for these trips was Koch’s love of travel but a major reason was to get away from the attacks on him in Germany. He maintained a close relationship with his daughter and Brock cites several letters that show a different side of the man. Brock spells out the often vicious debate between Koch and Pasteur, at least part of which was caused by a simple misunderstanding of language elevated into a major dispute by the egos of both men and by the rivalry of the French and the Germans. This book gives you all sides of the man.

If the book has a defect, it is that it was first published over 25 years ago. But I found almost nothing in the book that makes the book “dated.” Brock has given us an informative, very well-written and thoroughly enjoyable biography of one of the founders of modern medicine. I highly recommend it.

Writing scientific historical biography that is readable is a difficult task, and Prof. Brock has suceeded in this.
A great book about a great man, that in simple language communicates the excitement of a revolutionary time in medicine where a few people in the space of 20 years changed our world forever.
I loved this book and couldn't put it down, and this is in part due to the author communicating his own enthusiasm for his subject. If you are looking for a gift for anyone working in bioscience or biomedicine then you couldn't do better than this book.

Dieter Grimm teaches constitutional law at Humboldt University Berlin and at the Yale Law School. From 1987 to 1999, he served as justice of the Federal Constitutional Court of Germany.

I loved Tabitha and Vlad story!
This couldn't be more of a perfect ending to this series. I loved how possessive Vlad was of Tabitha.
He felt such a strong connection to her right from the start.

"If she asked me to lay down my life for her, I would do so. From the moment I saw her, she’s claimed my soul, and there’s no going back."

All Tabitha wanted was so live a simple life. Choose a husband of her choosing and have some kids. She didn't want to marry someone just for the sake of the family or for status. No she wanted a man that could see past all the titles that came with her. And that was Vlad for her.

"I want him so badly right now. My body aches for it. No, not only my body, but my heart, too. This man is a warrior. He’s a protector, and I know that for once in my life someone will take care of me. He will shelter me, and I want to fall into that. Fall into him."

I loved how he gave her everything she ever wanted and asked for. And I loved how she gave him all of herself and gave him what he wanted.

“Forever, Princess. You are bound to me forever.”

>I am an independent reviewer. This book is the fourth in the Princess series and ends in an HEA. This book retells a bit of the first princess book, but from the point of view of Tabitha, Alena's sister, and Vladimir, King Roman's bodyguard. Once again love at first sight creates a caveman out of Vlad. The romance between Vlad and Tabby is so romantic, even for the quickness with which it happened.

>This story is just as sweet and romantic as the previous books. However, a few major problems are not addressed. Tabitha is a princess and Vlad is not. How did he get around her status and marry her? Some kind of agreement was made with Tabby's mother, but nothing is really explained.

>This book is appropriate for an adult audience. I am giving the story 4 stars. A few more answered questions and 5 stars would have been earned.

Tabitha is a princess, but she doesn't want to be. She doesn't want to marry royalty either. Since raising her sister Alena and being her protector, all Tabby has wanted was to marry man who loves her and have 4 or 5 kids. Her mother wants the power and notoriety of uniting with another kingdom.

Vlad fell for Tabby the moment he lad eyes on her. He sees has she cares and protects her sister. He believes she would be the perfect mother to their children. Vlad decides it's time for someone to take care of Tabby for a change, and he's going to make her every dream come true. The biggest obstacle in his way, Tabby is of royal blood, and he is only a royal guard. Not the right man in Tabby's mother's eyes. A good friend will help him along way, though.

** Warning** This book and the series, like all the ones before, are over the top insta-love romances. If that is not your thing, DO NOT READ. I still see reviewers who complain about Riley's writing style, when she warns readers in her book descriptions. If insta-love short stories aren't your thing, just don't read it. You're leaving the author a bad review, when you knew you weren't going to like it
