How does the CDO role compare across higher education, non-profit, and corporate sectors? And how might the role serve as an important contributor to a collaborative vision for change and transformation in the academy?

This book begins by delineating the evolution of the chief diversity officer role in the academy. Drawing on extensive qualitative and quantitative research on CDOs conducted for the purposes of this volume, it describes how the scope and responsibilities are variously defined at the organizations where the position has been created, and offers insights into the complexities and challenges of the role.

On the basis of this data and the literature on organizational design and change management, the authors define the requisite skills, knowledge and background to be effective, review the alternative organizational and governance structures under which CDOs operate, and in so doing present the Chief Diversity Officer Development Framework as a basis for recruiting candidates, for structuring the position to succeed, and for providing prospective and incumbent CDOs with a realistic sense of the scope of the role.

About the Author
John Satzinger is a Professor in the Computer Information Systems department at Missouri State University. With teaching and research experience at leading CIS and MIS university programs since 1991, Dr. Satzinger provides a strong managerial focus and powerful vision for this text. His interests and specialties include systems analysis and design, graphical user interface design, object-oriented development, and database and client-server development. He earned his MBA from Cal Poly University and his Ph.D. from the Claremont Graduate University.

At last,a book on OOT that people can understand!

If you were allowed only one book to read as a Primer on the Object-oriented approach, this is it. Well-written, excellent use of examples, and a logical step-by-step approach that slowly reveals the "magic" behind OOT. Techno-geeks may find this book a bit too elementary...for the rest of us, it is a welcome treatment. My only criticism is that this team hasn't written more books...how about one on CORBA!?

This book is well written. The examples are light, excellent, and easy to understand. The authors take you step by step to give the reader an excellent foundation for this subject. This is a great book to keep as a reference, in terms of brushing up on the fundamentals of the Object-Oriented Approach to programming.
