This book is a wonderful read. The author provides a backdrop of quotes from great men and women who have shaped the world, and with it the marketplace, while providing insight into financial topics ranging from REITS to Art and Collectibles to modern day China. The interplay between the quotes and the author’s analysis of current financial issues affecting the global markets reinforces the sound adages echoed from the past. The book’s strength is that it provides the reader with insight as to how to apply the general concepts behind the historic adages to a variety of present day financial issues. The reader is reminded of the big picture behind the laws of nature, including human nature and economics, when considering individual investments affected by ever changing market conditions. I highly recommend this book if you have an interest the financial sector and appreciate a good quote.

A wonderful resource full of varied perspectives

This book is a wonderful resource to have at my fingertips, a must have for anyone involved in investing, finance, etc... This book touches on common investment themes like stocks, bonds, and globalization, but provides such varied perspectives on the topic at hand that you walk away not only more "eloquent" but also feeling more insightful. Even for someone with a decade in the industry, there are a lot of "aha!" moments I found when reading this book... where I found a new, elegant way to think about something complex, or a great way to explain something confusing to one of my clients. It is a great gift for a recent business school grad I know.
